Jim, Danielle, & Olive

Welcome to Hermitville. We are Jim and Danielle and we are happy to share our home with you. Hermitville is a small but private, quiet oasis near the Rutland area. It is your home away from home, close to Pico and Killington mountains. Enjoy all that the Killington Valley has to offer.

This was Jim’s mom’s home, and is now ours. We have been working on some updates and have decided to open our home to you. It is a new and ongoing project. But we hope you enjoy this space.

We think you will love your time here. While our home is small, and is a work in progress, there is so much to enjoy. The privacy of the space always makes us feel like we are coming to a retreat in Vermont. You will definitely feel like you are in a place all to yourself. Private and quiet. You will probably see lots of animals, or at least see their prints in the snow. We love how clear the stars are at night- one of our favorite things. Not something you get to experience in the city.

Feel free to walk the property. Or, if it’s warm, have a nice cup of coffee or tea on the deck (we built it ourselves!). We are happy to share our space, comforts, and local recommendations. This is a great place to unwind and relax – make yourself at home. Your furry family members are welcome too.

Our trips to Vermont and staying in this home have always been a refuge for us. We hope it is the same for you.

You will want to keep a close eye on your dog when you let him or her out. We recommend walking your dog on leash, especially at night. If you encounter deer, bears or other wildlife, please do not engage or disturb them, especially if they are young, as the mother will likely be close by. Food and water bowls are available in the lower kitchen cabinet next to the dishwasher. Please no cats, we have an allergy.
  • Pellet stove – you can use the pellet stove as an extra/ambient heat source. Just turn the temperature up on the thermostat that is in the living room. This thermostat controls the pellet stove only
